Apply as a UEF Student Representative to the Young Universities for the Future of Europe alliance

The Student Union of Eastern Finland (ISYY) is searching for two students to represent the UEF in the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) alliance. As a Student Representative, you will get incomparable experiences, meet other European students and promote the YUFE alliance!

The Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) is one of just 17 alliances of European universities selected by the European Commission to develop and implement the first models for a European University. The YUFE alliance presented its vision to the European Commission earlier this year and has now been given the go ahead to implement it. Members of the YUFE network include the University of Eastern Finland, the University of Antwerp (Belgium), the University of Bremen (Germany), Charles III University of Madrid (Spain), the University of Essex (the UK), the University of Cyprus, Maastricht University (the Netherlands), and the Tor Vegata University of Rome (Italy).

Additionally, YUFE has partnerships with the University of Rijeka (Croatia), the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torún (Poland), the Educational Testing Service, European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME, the Kiron Open Higher Education for Refugees, and the Adecco Group.

The YUFE Student Forum holds 3 face-to-face meetings and 6 video meetings a year. Additionally, Student Representatives work in different committees which convene at varying intervals (around 3-6 meetings a year). In addition to participating in meetings, Student Representatives comment on the committees’ work via email.

The YUFE Student Forum meets in Brussels or in the home cities of the member universities. The UEF will cover all of the Student Representatives’ travel expenses and accommodation during meetings. A Student Representative’s tasks may also include giving speeches and presentations, working in small groups, producing material, attending negotiations etc.

Only students of the University of Eastern Finland can apply for the position. Applicants must be fluent in English, the working language of the YUFE network. New Student Representatives will start in their position in October. We wish that at least one of the new Representatives can already attend the YUFE meeting in Cyprus from 10 to 11 October, where also the present Representative will attend. The application period ends on Friday 30 August at 12.00. Deliver your free-form application as a PDF-file by email to hakemukset@isyy.fi. Please title your email ‘YUFE Student Representative’ and include your name in the file names of all attachments, e.g. ‘Joe Average application’.  The ISYY Executive Board will select the Student Representatives in early September.
