Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) has started a collaboration with Tree Amigos. We want to encourage students to recycle responsibly.
From the autumn 2020, old smartphones (including broken ones) can be returned to ISYY Offices and ISYY will deliver phones to Tree Amigos. Tree Amigos will plant a tree per recycled smartphone to compensate humanity’s carbon footprint. Those devices end up in reuse or as spare parts.
Tree Amigos is co-operating with the International Tree Foundation. Through "20 Million Trees For Kenya's Forest" -program trees will be planted in Kenya. At the moment, planting trees, is one of the best ways to tackle our carbon footprint and it provides jobs, which supports the locals near the plantation.
