Students’ Mental Health Day will be celebrated on Wednesday 13th of April

Students’ coping is currently in a state of emergency. The prolonged coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on the coping and mental health of students. More than half of all students are experiencing psychological difficulties. The exceptional circumstances, the restrictions and distance learning have led to an unprecedented increase in the number of students who feel unwell. Many have been left completely alone without any support or the feeling that anyone cares about them.

The goal of the day is to provoke conversations about students’ mental health and to invite everyone to support the cause of mental well-being. This year the theme of the day is compassion. When we encounter each other with compassion, we can establish genuine contacts with one another. When we are more gentle to ourselves, we can strengthen our own well-being more easily. The campaign highlights the strength of compassion and encourages people to share their experiences through a social media challenge and organize their own compassion-related events and activities.

##GoodEnough social media challenge 7th-14th of April

ISYY encourages students to participate in Students' Mental Health Day's #GoodEnough social media challenge during the 7th-14th of April!

Remember you are allowed to make mistakes, fail and be less than perfect. You are #GoodEnough just as you are. You are enough.
How to participate: Share your own image, video or story that demonstrates the imperfectness of your daily life. Tag your content with the hashtag #GoodEnough. Then tag your friends or different organizations and encourage them to do the same.
By lowering the bar and abandoning the pursuit of perfection, we can increase compassion for ourselves and for others as well. Facing others and reducing your feelings of pressure is easier if you don’t have to pretend that you live in a perfect world. Together we are good enough at making a change!

Winter snowshoe excursion in Lykynlampi 18.4.22 at 11-15.00

The excursion will take place in the snowy Lykynlampi outdoor center. During this excursion I will teach you the basics of the snowshoe technique, equipment and finding your way in nature. The goal of this day is to give you the skills to independently use your snowshoes to enjoy nature.

You don’t need any prior experience. You will only need to bring with you suitable winter clothing, high boots and good spirits. You can also bring a backpack with water, snacks and a lighter jacket when we take a well deserved break.

What is my Student Organisation?

Student Organisations are independent, subject-specific associations. Student Organisations gather together students who study the same subject, which allows for them to get to know their peers and work together in the field of student advocacy. It's a great way to meet new people and attend a variety of activities and events with people studying the same subject as you!

Each Student Organisation has their own overalls colour, they are listed in ISYY's student calendars! You can watch this Youtube video to learn more about the Finnish higher education overall tradition.
