AEGEE Contact Joensuu

With the start of the new academic year 2022/2023 there is a new campus organisation in Joensuu: AEGEE Contact Joensuu! Are you a new student in Joensuu and / or looking for new opportunities for intercultural exchange in Europe, for getting involved in a student organisation, and for moving things into a more sustainable “greener” future? Degree student - remember to pay the FSHS fee!

You can use FSHS (Finnish Student Health Service) services in the spring semester if you are studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and you have registered as an attending student at the UEF.

Degree students pay the university student's health care fee to Kela. Note that Kela won't send you an invoice! The amount for the autumn semester is 35.80 €

If you are a degree student and you have social security coverage in another EU/EEA country, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, you do not have to pay the healthcare fee to Kela and you can still use the FSHS services. However, if you do not notify Kela that you pay social security coverage in your country before the due date, Kela can send you a reminder of the payment. Therefore, you should send Kela a copy of your valid European Health Insurance Card or other document showing that you have social security coverage in your home country. You can find more information about this change from Kela’s website.

What is my Student Association?

Student Associations are independent, subject-specific associations. Student Associations gather together students who study the same subject, which allows for them to get to know their peers and work together in the field of student advocacy. It's a great way to meet new people and attend a variety of activities and events with people studying the same subject as you!

Each Student Association has their own overalls colour, they are listed in ISYY's student calendars! You can watch this Youtube video to learn more about the Finnish higher education overall tradition.
