18.95 % of the eligible voters gave their votes in the advance voting of the ISYY’s Representative Council elections. Advance voting activity increased from the elections of 2015.
Advance voting turnout of the fifth Representative Council elections of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland is 18.95, so 2 540 eligible voters gave their votes in advance. Compared to the previous elections held in 2015, the advance voting turnout increased. Then the voter turnout was 16,3 % (2 176 person). Advance voting was held electronically during the 30th of October to the 3rd of November 2017.
The actual voting day of the Representative Council elections is the 8th of November 2017 from 9 am to 6 pm. The elections elect the highest decision-making body of the Student Union, 39-member Representative Council that decides on for example the Student Union’s budget, membership fee, operating plan and rules. Term of office of the new Representative Council starts in the beginning of 2018 and lasts for two years.
There are altogether 181 candidates from 14 different lists of candidates in the ISYY’s Representative Council elections this year. The Representative Council elections are held completely electronically. All members of the Student Union, who have registered as attending students at the University of Eastern Finland before the 23rd of October 2017, are eligible voters. In total that is 13,407 students.
ISYY will inform of the Representative Council elections’ results immediately after the results are solved on the 8th of November. The results will be published at all campuses on the 8th of November 2017 in the elections following event, held from 5.30 pm to 8 pm.
