Here you can find some practical things that you should take care of before leaving. Please read this information carefully.
Things to do at the international mobility service office (Oppari, Canthia building)
Departure Information Form and Request for Transcript
All the exchange students/trainees should fill out this form and return it to the International Mobility Services before leaving. Please fill out the form on-line, print and sign it and bring it to the office. As soon as all the credits are entered into your student register, they will post the Transcript to the address(es) you have given on the form. If all the courses are already in your student register, please fill out the form and return it to Kirsi Konttinen but you can collect the transcript right away.
NB! Please note that if you don’t return this form, they don’t know which courses you have taken and cannot send the transcript to you.
Letter of Confirmation
Please ask Kirsi Konttinen for the Letter of Confirmation (certificate confirming the exact duration of your study period at the UEF). If your home University has given you their own exchange documents, please bring them with you. If your home university has not given you any forms, please check with them if they have a form you should use. If not, they will give you the UEF one. Please make sure you receive a Letter of Confirmation before you leave Kuopio.
NB! They will sign the Letter of Confirmation at the very end of your stay in Kuopio because the certificate states the exact dates of your exchange period. The Letter of Confirmation cannot be issued earlier than seven days prior to your official departure from Kuopio. Kirsi Konttinen will be at her office to sign your documents on Mon 25 May at 12-14, on Tue 26.5. at 11-13, on Thu 28.5. at 12-14 and Fri 29.5. at 11-13 (except for a lunch break at some point).
NB! The Learning Agreements are always signed only by the academic coordinators at the departments.
Other practical things to remember
– Give notice to Kuopas to end your lease at least one month before you intend to move (a written termination of the lease must be made no less than one FULL calendar month before moving out). So if you wish to leave Kuopio by the end of in June, you need to inform Kuopas about it during May otherwise you will have to pay the rent for June, too! For more information, please see here (Select: tenant info -> the end of tenancy agreement).
– Check that your rent and other bills have been paid.
– Make sure that you clean up the room carefully before moving out. If the room is not cleaned up properly, Kuopas has the right to have the room tidied up at your expense, meaning that the cost of the cleaning will be deducted from your deposit (taking pictures after cleaning is always a good idea!)
– Return your keys to Kuopas and leave your exact bank details, so that the guarantee payment (deposit) can be returned to you.
Library (University and city library)
Return all the library books you have borrowed and pay for any outstanding charges
Return your Survival Package and/or SYKETTÄ electronic key to the Student Union.
Our usual opening hours of the Student Union office: Mon, Tue, Thu 10-15, Wed closed and Fri 10-13. Check the exceptions here!
Remember to close your bank account if you are not planning to return to Finland in the near future.
