The Student Union of University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) is presenting Master Degree student of English Language and Culture Lina Munčytė (Munkite) as a Board member for National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL). The Council of Representatives of ISYY decided to support her candidature on the 29th September, 2017.
Lithuanian born Munčytė has been ISYY’s Board member since October 2016 where she was responsible for International Affairs. During her time at ISYY, Lina has successfully lobbied to the university to ensure that all international students (from EU and non-EU countries) will receive banking services, is working towards improving the international mobility of the Finnish students and language cafes being recognised as extracurricular activities. For the past 3 years, Lina has been a volunteer at Erasmus Student Network (ESN).
– It is an absolute honour to be nominated as a ISYY candidate. The work that I have done at ISYY is strongly driven by the ideas of social inclusion, internationalisation at home and active citizenship, which are some of the main themes that I would like to focus on if I become an Executive Board Member of SYL
– Lina is an awesome person and as an Executive Board member, she has developed ISYY’s international sector to the next level. Working with her never gets boring and you can really feel her enthusiasm towards interest advocacy. I truly believe that SYL’s international sector needs Lina, says the Chairperson of ISYY’s Executive Board Tahvo Kekkonen.
SYL General assembly will be arranged in Tampere on 17th – 18th November 2017. The General Assembly will make decisions about SYL next year’s action plan, guidelines of activity and choose the board for 2018. The Board consists of a chairperson and six board members.
