The Wellbeing Week of ISYY and UEF will take place on 30.9.–6.10.2019.

The Wellbeing Week of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) and the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) will take place on 30.9.–6.10.2019.

This week’s theme will delve into the challenges of students’ mental health and coping. The purpose of the Wellbeing Week is to offer students and university staff a chance to stop amidst their everyday worries and pay attention to their own coping.

– When daylight lessens and exams close in, many students experience exhaustion and stress. According to the FSHS 2016 Finnish student health survey, worrying about one’s studies is common among students. According to the study, a quarter of students greatly worried about their studies during their free time, and 17% felt drowned by the amount of work their studies include, says Susanna Remes, the ISYY executive board member responsible for social politics.

During the week, students get to meet local wellbeing operators, which will be presenting their activities at the campus-held Wellbeing Fairs. Polar night info’s in English and the traditional Sports Afternoon will also be hosted during the week. In addition, the highly popular dog visitors will be arriving to both campuses for students to pet.

The Wellbeing Week also includes other events, such as ISYY’s Smiles and Complaints Week, during which one has the opportunity to provide feedback to the university, to the student union and to other study-related parties.
