Exchange Students

If you are an exchange student, joining ISYY is optional for you.

As a member of ISYY you are entitled to participate in all of the events and activities organised by ISYY, Joensuu's Exchange and International Students (JEIS) and other ISYY Clubs. ISYY membership will give you access to noticeable discounts in restaurants, bars, cinemas and shops all across Finland, as well as online.

Membership Fee 2024 - 2025

• 73 € for the whole academic year 1.8.2024 - 31.7.2025
• 38 € for the autumn semester 1.8. - 31.12.2024
• 39 € for the spring semester 1.1. - 31.7.2025
• (40 € for the spring semester 1.1. - 31.7.2024)

How to Become a Member

Please note that in addition to paying the ISYY membership fee, you need to register the membership with the Student and Learning Services in order to use the student discounts and ISYY’s membership services. 

STEP 1: Pay your membership fee as a bank transfer                           

The account details for the Student Union are as follows:

NB! You may also pay the membership fee by cash or by debit or credit card at the ISYY offices in Joensuu or Kuopio. Please note that the biggest banknote you can pay with at our offices is 50€.

STEP 2: Register your membership

You can register your membership by choosing one of the following options: 

• Attach your ISYY membership payment receipt to the online UEF registration form. By doing this, your ISYY membership is registered and no further actions are needed. 

OR

• If you have already sent the UEF registration form, email your payment receipt to the UEF Student and Learning Services (opiskelu(at)uef.fi) to register your membership. Please include your name and date of birth to the email.

OR

• Alternatively, after you have arrived in your campus city, register your membership in person by showing the payment receipt (issued by your bank, an ATM receipt or a print out from your online bank) at the customer service counter of the UEF Student and Learning Services.

  • Joensuu: Yliopistokatu 2, Aurora Building (Entrance A, ground floor).

After the payment and registration process has been completed, you can order the plastic student card (25€) online at www.frank.fi or download the Frank App, which acts as a digital student card. The student card functions as a national benefit and discount card as well as the Student Union (ISYY) membership card. It is an official document that proves you are a student at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF).
