Application Notice: Student Representatives to the Sustainable Development Advisory Board of the University of Eastern Finland

The University of Eastern Finland is committed to the principles of sustainable development in its actions. For this reason, the University of Eastern Finland has an Advisory Board for Sustainable Development, to which ISYY applies for two student members and two deputies:

The Advisory Board's tasks are: 

1) To promote the implementation of the University of Eastern Finland's strategy and quality work, especially in sustainable development and responsibility. 

2) To take care of the maintenance of the University of Eastern Finland's sustainability and responsibility program and the university's other sustainable development commitments, and to make proposals for measures and resources related to them. 

3) To ensure the achievement of the goals of social commitment and the necessary reporting. 

4) Promote discussion and awareness of sustainable development and responsibility, both within and outside the university, to the university's stakeholders, by communicating about the university's sustainability and responsibility activities and, for example, by organizing related events. 

5) To promote co-operation between the various communities and university units operating in the university and the universities of Eastern Finland in matters of sustainability and responsibility. 6) Carry out sustainability audits. 

7) To act as the steering group of the University's Carbon Neutral UEF2025 project and to organize project-related reporting and carbon footprint calculation. 

8) To act as a team for the activities of the University of Fair Trade. 

9) To act as the university's Green Office working group. 

The Advisory Board consists of representatives from the faculties, special and service departments and the Compass Group, which is responsible for the university's restaurant services, and its deputies. In addition, the Advisory Board has representation from the University Services so that it can also perform the tasks required by the university's Green Office diploma and representation from the Student Union. The Advisory Board elects a chairman from among its members and the quality coordinator acts as secretary. 

A person who has the right to complete a bachelor's or master's degree or a licentiate or doctoral postgraduate degree at the University of Eastern Finland is eligible to apply to the Sustainable Development Advisory Board. Interest and experience in the principles and activities of sustainable development are considered an advantage for the applicant.

Reasoned applications with possible CVs must be submitted to the student union's education and social policy expert Mikko Aaltonen at koso(at)isyy.fi by Monday 15 February. by 12 noon.
