In ISYY's ninth Representative Council elections, there are 136 candidates from 11 different candidate lists. The number of candidates has started to rise again after past election years, and the diversity of the candidate lists reflects students’ growing desire to participate in the decision-making.

This year, a total of 136 candidates from 11 different candidate lists are nominated in the Representative Council elections of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY). Compared to the previous Elections in 2023 and 2021, the number of candidates and lists has increased. In the 2023 elections there were 113 candidates and 9 candidate lists, and during the 2021 elections there were 128 candidates and 10 candidate lists.

Candidates for the Representative Council Elections can be found on ISYY's election webpage.

– It’s great to see that the number of candidates and candidate lists has started to increase, which shows students are interested in student advocacy and participating in the decision-making of the Student Union. We encourage all candidate lists to run visible and inspiring campaigns, so as many students as possible will use their vote, says Julia Lautala, Chairperson of the Central Election Committee.

ISYY's Representative Council elections are held this autumn for the ninth time. The advance voting for the Representative Council Elections takes place from 27 October to 31 October 2025 and the actual voting date is 6 November 2025.

In the Representative Council Elections, a 39-member Student Union Representative Council, the highest decision-making body of the Student Union, is elected for a two-year term. The Representative Council decides, among other things, on the Student Union's budget, membership fee, action plan and rules.

– Highest voter turnout in ISYY’s Representative Council Elections was 30,1 % in 2017, and it would be great if this year we could set a new record, states Lautala.
