ISYY Representative Council 6/2025 Meeting's Decisions

The Representative Council of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) held its sixth meeting of 2025 on Tuesday 28 October.

In the meeting, the Representative Council decided that the ISYY membership fee for the academic year 2026-2027 is as follows:

• 73 € for degree students (autumn semester 36 € and spring semester 37 €)
• 56 € for postgraduate students (autumn semester 27.50 €  and spring semester 28.50 €).

The Representative Council elected student representatives for different bodies at UEF and decided that ISYY's Executive Board can elect students to the rest of the vacant seats.

The ISYY Council appointed Lassi Oikkonen and Leevi Haavisto as student representatives in the University Board for the term 2026-2027 and proposes this to be confirmed by the University Collegiate Body.

The Representative Council elected the following students as student representatives in the University Collegiate Body for the term 1.1.2026–31.12.2027 (deputy member in parenthesis):

• Johannes Airaksinen (Ruska Itkonen)
• Marko Koskelo (Onni Riikkilä)
• Reetta Venäläinen (Päivikki Ojalehto)
• Mikko Miettinen (Executive Board elects later)
• Joonatan Packalen (Executive Board elects later)
• Nisha Rathnayaka (Executive Board elects later)
• Ville Salokangas (Executive Board elects later)
• Eero Terävä (Executive Board elects later)

The Representative Council elected the following students as student representatives in the Faculty Council of the Philosophical Faculty for the term 1.1.2026–31.12.2027 (deputy member in parenthesis):

• Emilia Kivikoski (Jasmin Närhi)
• Janina Baljashkin (Matilda Lahtinen)
• Marko Koskelo (Executive Board elects later)
• Teemu Palkovuori (Executive Board elects later)
• Jussi Pesonen (Executive Board elects later)

The Representative Council elected the following students as student representatives in the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology for the term 1.1.2026–31.12.2027 (deputy member in parenthesis):

• Kielo Kitunen (Executive Board elects later)
• Wilma Heikkinen (Executive Board elects later)
• Johannes Airaksinen (Executive Board elects later)
• Mikko Miettinen (Executive Board elects later)
• Teemu Palkovuori (Executive Board elects later)

The Representative Council elected the following students as student representatives in the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Health Sciences for the term 1.1.2026–31.12.2027 (deputy member in parenthesis):

• Veera Nurmela (Otto Ahvonen)
• Ville Salokangas (Kasper Halonen)
• Aino Kuosmanen (Shadi Fahandezh Saadi)
• Senja Tallbacka (Executive Board elects later)

The Representative Council elected the following students as student representatives in the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies for the term 1.1.2026–31.12.2027 (deputy member in parenthesis):

• Janne Kortelainen (Matias Akiala)
• Kshitij Thapa (Timi Huotari)
• Janina Baljashkin (Aarni Valolempi)
• Päivikki Ojalehto (Essi Annika Eklund)
• Joonatan Packalén (Jutta Huitula)

The ISYY Council accepted two proposed resolution made by Marko Koskelo (Keskeiset), one made by Matilda Lahtinen (Vihreä lista) and one by Jasmin Närhi (ISYYn Demariopiskelijat). Firstly, Koskelo’s proposed resolutions were about re-establishing ISYY’s sections and about hearing student representatives’ news at the ISYY Council meetings. Secondly, Lahtinen’s proposed resolution was about marking electric scooters’ parking spots to campuses. Finally, Närhi’s proposed resolution was that ISYY should take into consideration people with sensory defensiveness better.
