The Executive Board of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) has named the delegation to represent ISYY in the General Assembly of the National Union of Students in Finland (SYL) in Espoo Otaniemi 14.–15.11.2025. In the Meeting Notice of the National Assembly is e.g. the Action Plan and Budget for the year 2026 and also the SYL Board 2026 will be elected. ISYY's candidate to the SYL Board is Emilia Enroth.
The National Union of the University Students in Finland is a student organisation that represents approximately 140 000 university students in Finland. All the Student Unions in Finland are members of SYL. The General Assembly makes all the big decisions considering the unions actions and it is held once a year. Every Student Union has their own delegation according to the amount of members in the Student Union, each student union has one representative for each beginning 1000 members, meaning that e.g. ISYY has approximately 14 000 members and we have 16 representatives in our delegation. Additionally, ISYY will send 6 substitute representatives to the General Assembly.
ISYY's Representative Council has decided to form the delegation during their term 2024–2025 in a way, that each Representative Council group can name representatives to the delegation according to the distribution of the ISYY Representative Council and also in a way that possible disproportions will be justified in next year's delegation. In other words, the more the group has places in our Representative Council, the more they have places in the delegation. Nevertheless, all the groups are represented in the actual 16 representatives at least in one delegation of their two year term 2024–2025.
The representative groups submitted their proposals for members of the delegation, and the ISYY Board filled the remaining vacant delegation positions and substitute positions in its meeting. This year, the representative groups were allowed to nominate individuals to the delegation as follows:
Remaining substitute positions are named for the ISYY's SYL Board candidate, and other persons decided by the ISYY Board.
ISYY's General Assembly consists of 16 actual and 6 substitute representatives. Chairperson of the Delegation is ISYY’s Second Vice Chair of the ISYY Representative Council, Maija Kuivalainen.
