What Wellbeing Week?

During Wellbeing Week, a variety of activities will be organised to provide tools to increase one's own wellbeing. See the schedule of the theme week's program below. In addition to both campuses, there is also some program which will be held online. Please note that some of the week's activities require pre-registration and have an entrance fee and those are always stated in the information of the event in question.

Wellbeing Week 2026 schedule

Monday 28.9.

Online, for students and staff: Exercise Break from 9.50 am to 10.00 am

Join for a refreshing SYKETTÄ Joensuu’s Physical Activity Counsellor Anni Sorsa’s exercise session via Teams during Wellbeing Week! A short exercise break is a great way to reduce sitting time, boost your energy, and support your wellbeing throughout the workday. The session is suitable for everyone and requires no special equipment. Please note that the session will be held in Finnish.

Both campuses, for students and staff: Finnish Kennel Club’s Care Dogs and free coffee from 11am to 1pm

Finnish Kennel Club’s Care Dogs will be on the campuses in Joensuu at the Alkukivet statue and in Kuopio in front of Lukema/Studentia from 11am to 1pm. Doctor Ari Kinnunen and clinical veterinary technician Pia Nikkari have found that dogs have a natural ability to make people feel good, because the presence and petting of a dog lowers blood pressure and slows the heart rate. In addition, a dog may have a calming and concentration-supporting effect, and according to Yle's article, pets reduce stress and help people to relax. So come and take a break that supports your wellbeing by petting dogs and drinking coffee!

Friday 2.10.

Joensuu, for students and staff: Day trip to the Petkeljärvi National Park

Petkeljärvi National Park is a diverse and wilderness-like hiking destination where, if you’re lucky, you might spot beavers and their dams. It is possible to move around Petkeljärvi independently or with ISYY's group. The ISYY expedition goes around the fairly easy Kuikan Kierros (6,5 km), which takes about 2 hours. In addition, time has been reserved for independent exploration of Petkeljärvi. The hike route is beginner-friendly, but there is no guide with us.

Departure is from the campus at 10 am and we return back to campus by 5pm. We recommend eating a nutritious breakfast and taking enough food with you so that you don't get hungry in the middle of the day. We also recommend weather appropriate equipment and a little experience of hiking.

Registration is open on Kide.app between 16.-28.9. or as long as there are free seats in the bus. The price of the day trip is 5 € and includes the bus transportation from the campus to Petkeljärvi and back. Please note that registration is binding. Please note that if there aren't enough participants, we will have to cancel the trip. More information about the trip and schedules (as well as possible cancellation) will be sent via email to the participants no later than 30.9.

Kuopio, for students and staff: Day trip to Southern Konnevesi National Park

The landscapes of Southern Konnevesi National Park consist of groves, high rocky slopes and lake views. It is possible to move around Southern Konnevesi independently or with ISYY's group. The ISYY expedition goes around the fairly demanding Kalajan Kierros Nature Trail (5 km), which takes about 3 hours. In addition, time has been reserved for independent exploration of Southern Konnevesi. The hiking route is suitable for hikers in good physical condition, due to the steep ascents and cliffs along the way. There is no guide with us.

Departure is from the campus at 10am and we return back to campus by 5pm.

The price of the excursion is 5 € and includes the bus transportation from the campus to Southern Konnevesi and back. Please note that registration is binding.
