The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland
The elections are not possible without ISYY members showing their interest in the elections and turning up to vote. Therefore, remember to take advantage of your right to vote and make sure your favourite candidate gets elected. Read on to find out how.
The Representative Council elections are the most important elections of your time as a student. You get to choose the people who make decisions concerning the Student Union (ISYY) and the services that are offered to you as a member. For instance, the Representative Council determines the strategy of ISYY and the level of the membership fee, and cooperates with the decision-making bodies of UEF.
If your own well-being and interests are important to you, choose the candidate who best represents your views and vote, because nobody else will do it for you!
Voting in the Elections is very easy and it takes place online. You can vote electronically with your UEF credentials anywhere. You can also vote electronically at the ISYY Election stand on campus.
Every member of the Student Union (ISYY) who has registered as present at the University is eligible to vote in the Elections. Each person can vote only once and it is not possible to vote by proxy.
You can see the Candidate Lists on the ISYY website and on bulletin boards. If you do not know who to vote for yet, you can find your favourite candidate with the help of a Voting Aid Application.
Please read the instructions for electronic voting below.
1. Signing in to the electronical voting system
Electrical voting will be done at https://isyy-vaalit.uef.fi webpage. Every member of the Student Union (ISYY) who has registered as present at the University is eligible to vote in the Elections.
Click the logo of the University of Eastern Finland and sign in to the voting using your university user account (the same account that you use to login to University's intranet or Moodle environment).
Note: If you already have logged in to UEF services from the same browser (another window or tab) with your account (Moodle, Intranet, or such), you will be moved to the voting page immediately!
After a successful sign in you may be asked for approval to your personal information transfer. After pushing the "Confirm" button you will be directed automatically to the voting page, and your student id is used to check if you are eligible to vote in this election.
2. Choosing a candidate
Voting is done by typing the number of your chosen candidate to the text field on the page. After you have written the number of the candidate, press the Continue button. You can give an empty vote by leaving the text field empty. Please note that the voting system does not accept falsely entered numbers (letters or numbers that are not numbers of the candidates). Also note that to keep your vote secret, you need to be sure that no one else can see what number you choose for example over your shoulder. The electrical voting system does not connect voters and votes. This means that you cannot change your vote later, so be sure that you keep your vote secret.
2.1. Stopping the voting in the middle of voting process
If you want to stop the voting, you can press the Exit button. After that you are asked confirmation for stopping your voting. By pressing the Exit voting -button you will be signed out from the voting system and by pressing the Continue voting button you can continue voting. If you stopped voting during this step, you can continue voting later.
3. Confirming your vote
You can confirm your vote by pressing the Confirm vote button. During this step you can come back to choosing your candidate by pressing the Change candidate button.
4. Completed voting
After you have confirmed your vote the system will confirm your successful voting. You can only vote once so the system does not allow you to change your vote during this step. During this step the connection to the voting system is disconnected. You can make sure that the connection is disconnected by closing your web browser.
5. Troubleshooting
Contact the voting system administrator and include as accurate a description of the problem as possible and error messages, etc.
In urgent situations, the system administrator is reachable from 09:00 to 18:00.
