The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland
The well-being of a university student is influenced by many different aspects of life, such as health, relationships, environment, financial situation, and leisure activities.
National education policy decisions, such as those relating to student subsistence and funding for higher education, have a major impact on the quality of a student's life and the expectations our society has of them. For example, the target time for completing one’s studies can increase the sense of urgency, which in turn increases stress. Prolonged stress has a negative impact on well-being. In addition, students may also feel pressure to graduate and move into the working world.
Therefore, we have compiled information on this page to help students at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) to find support for their well-being, as well as information on the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland’s (ISYY) and UEF's policies and practices to promote well-being in the university community.
You can find information on student well-being behind the links to UEF Kamu website (link below). The Student Life and Well-being page brings together the main student well-being services. On the Student Well-being Work at UEF page, you can find information about the work our university is doing to promote student well-being.

Equality is one of the safeguards of a safe study environment. Both ISYY and UEF have compiled Equality Plans, which guide the actions of our organisations. All operators and staff members of ISYY are required to commit to the Plan.
The purpose of ISYY Equality Plan is to promote equality, non-discrimination, parity, and physical and mental safety in the study environment in ISYY, as well as in the organizations and clubs that operate in its domain.
Guidelines for safer spaces have been compiled to accompany the Plan.
The University of Eastern Finland's Equality and Parity Plan has been developed to support promoting equality, parity, diversity and inclusion of staff and students at UEF. Promoting these is the responsibility of every member of the university community.
The links below will take you to the ISYY Equality Plan, the Safer Space Guidelines and the UEF Equality and Parity Plan.
NB! The ISYY Equality Plan and Safer Space Guidelines are in translation and will be updated to this page when ready.
