Discussion session between the Ministry of Education and Culture and UEF staff and students on 26 October

A discussion session on topical themes between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the university’s staff and students will take place on Wednesday, 26 October, from 12.40 to 14.00.  The session will be streamed live on Sharepoint, meaning that to follow the session you must log in with your UEF-admins. The session will be bilingual, i.e., in Finnish and in English.

Interim negotiations pertaining to the performance agreement between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the University of Eastern Finland will be conducted as a visit to the Kuopio Campus on 26–27 October, and the discussion session is part of the visit programme.

Attending the session from the ministry are Director General Atte Jääskeläinen, Director Erja Heikkinen, Counsellor of Education Jorma Karhu and Counsellor of Education Maarit Palonen.

Representatives of different staff groups have been invited to the session as representatives of the university, and the Student Union has appointed its own representatives. The university’s representatives are Professor Sari Havu-Nuutinen, Professor Markus Forsberg, Research Director Pertti Pasanen, Director Tero Karjalainen, University Teacher Mari Suonio, Doctoral Researcher Riikka Patrikainen, Project Coordinator Cristina Florea, IT Systems Architect Juha Riepponen and Senior Laboratory Technician Hanne Vainikainen.

The university’s students are represented by the Chair of the Student Union’s Executive Board, student of cultural studies Sami Tanskanen, student of chemistry Ville-Pekka Timonen, student of biomedicine Pauliina Ryökäs, and diversity and inclusion trainee, student of English language and culture Aiym Orysbaeva.

The purpose of the interim negotiations is to promote strategic dialogue between institutions of higher education and the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Members of the academic community have the opportunity to suggest ideas on how the ministry could support staff and student well-being.
