Election Announcement – The Representative Council Elections 2025

The elections for the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland’s (ISYY) Representative Council will be held as electronic elections in autumn 2025. Advance voting takes place on 27.–31.10.2025 and the actual voting day is 6.11.2025.

The elected ISYY Representative Council, which consists of 39 members, forms the highest decision-making body of the Student Union. The elections take place every other year and all ISYY members, which include for example UEF degree students, can become candidates. The ISYY Council guides the Student Union’s operations by deciding, for instance, the amount of the membership fee, yearly action plan and budget, as well as the direction of the Student Union’s future. Every year, the ISYY Council appoints their Chairpersons as well as the Executive Board.

How to become a candidate?

You can join as a candidate on a candidate list established by you or someone else. Establishing a candidate list is easy and ISYY’s staff will help you if needed.

The candidate’s approvals, announcements of the representative of the list and suggestions for the candidate list as well as a possible electoral coalition must be submitted electronically or delivered to ISYY’s office by 1 October 2025 by 3 pm.

You can find the electronic forms from ISYY’s electronic election system. Printed forms can be found at the ISYY offices or you can print the forms yourself from ISYY’s website (found under the Election documents webpage and from the Documents). More detailed instructions on how to become a candidate and the schedule of the elections are found in the Election announcement. Please follow the given deadlines since ISYY does not accept documents that are delivered late.

How to use the electronic election system?

Here is how to establish a candidate list

1. Log in to the election system with your UEF credentials.
2. Choose ’register a new list’.
3. Fill in the registration form, save your information by pressing ‘save’. Now your candidate list has been established! (ISYY adds the information of the candidate lists and their representatives to ISYY’s website during office hours. We recommend that you deliver the document to ISYY before the nomination of candidates ends so that students can find your list’s information. Please note that the Central Election Committee officially accepts the documents after the nomination period has ended.)
4. Start marketing your list and let students know the name of your list.
5. You will get a notification to the email address you gave on the electronic form when your list has received a new candidate application.
6. Confirm your new candidates’ candidacy in your list via the link that is sent to your email address.

Here are instructions on how to become a candidate:

1. Log in to the election system with your UEF credentials.
2. Choose ’register as a candidate’.
3. Select your preferred candidate list from the menu. If you cannot find the list you want, please contact the representative of that list.
4. Fill in the Candidate's approval and assurance and press ‘send application’.
5. You will be notified via email after the representative of the candidate list has accepted your application.

If you want to run as a candidate on your own candidate list, please fill in only the candidate list registration form. There is a part in the electronic form where you can indicate that you will also become a candidate.
