Finnish Parliamentary Election themed events for students in Eastern Finland

The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) The Student Union of the Karelia University of Applied Sciences (POKA) and the Student Union of the Savonia University of Applied Sciences (SAVOTTA) are organising Finnish Parliamentary Elections themed events during February and March for students of Eastern Finland.

The Finnish Parliamentary Elections will be held on Sunday 2nd April 2023. Every citizen of Finland who has reached the age of 18 not later than on the day of the election is entitled to vote in the Elections, despite the domicile. Voting in Advance is possible from Wednesday 22nd March 2023 until Tuesday 28th March 2023. There is only under two months left before the actual election date. Now you have a lot of time to find a candidate who you will vote! Maybe our election events will be helpful for you also.

Election Events in Joensuu and Kuopio

On both campuses a Panel Discussion for Parliamentary Election Candidates will be held on week 9. The Panels will be held in Finnish only. The Panel in Kuopio will be held on Monday 27th February from 12 pm to 13 pm in Savonia Campus and in Joensuu on Thursday 2nd March from 12 pm to 13 pm in UEF Campus. The representatives of ISYY, POKA and SAVOTTA will be leading the panels. The candidates attending the panel will be published on 23rd February. The Panels can be followed in place or via live-stream.

ISYY will also organise Parliamentary Election Fairs in Joensuu and Kuopio during week 11. In Joensuu the Fair will be held on Monday 13th March from 10 am to 2 pm in Carelia lobby and in Kuopio on Thursday 16th March from 10 am to 2 pm in Snellmania lobby. The event in Kuopio will be organised in cooperation with SAVOTTA. At the Election Fair students can get to know and discuss with the Parliamentary Election Candidates.

Voting in advance at the UEF campuses

You can vote in advance at the UEF campuses. In Joensuu there will be an Advance Polling Station in Carelia lobby and in Kuopio at the ISYY Office in Studentia-building. The Advance Voting is a smart thing to do, since it is a more flexible option than voting on the actual Election Day. During the Advance Voting Period you can vote in any Polling Station but in the Election Day you must vote in the Station named for you in the Voting Right Letter.
