At the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), students in degree-leading programs (Bachelor, Master, Licentiate, Doctor) and exchange students receive virtual balance of 9 euros for one semester at a time. In addition to this automatic printing balance, students can purchase additional balance for printing.
At the beginning of 2025, the automatic printing balance was about to be removed entirely, which would have made printing at the university fully chargeable for students. The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) negotiated to maintain the printing balance, and it was decided to keep unchanged for the benefit of students
The virtual balances are updated to 9 € on 16 September and 16 January when a student has registered as present for that semester. Unused virtual balance is not carried over to the following semester.
