ISYY’s Can Do days on 10.–12.11.2020

According to the most recent Finnish Student Health and Wellbeing Survey (KOTT), as many as over 40% of all students have feelings of inadequacy related to their studies. These negative feelings have become more frequent since the previous KOTT survey.

“Students’ feelings of inadequacy in their studies are related to things like success in studies, balancing family and studies, and transferable skills. And the current COVID situation has revealed kinds of challenges as contact teaching and practical exercises have decreased in most fields,” says Roosa Ylikoski, one of the ISYY executive board members responsible for social politics.

“I remember how at the start of my own studies I felt the pressure to learn huge amounts of information in short time periods. With time my study skills have improved, and the pressure has eased. Sharing experiences with my university friends helped set reasonable goals for myself,” tells Salli Kosonen, the other ISYY executive board member responsible for social politics.

ISYY’s Can Do days are held on 10.–12.11.2020 in the student union’s social media accounts. The purpose of these days is to bring up students’ experiences with feelings of inadequacy and start important conversation on the topic. Participate on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter! #minäpystynpäivä2020
