Come and try Escrima Concepts

The class is on Tuesday 19th of March from 6-8 pm at the Snellmania mirror hall. Escrima is originally a Filipino martial art. Its difference to many other martial arts is that the training uses weapons from the beginning (rattan stick). The use of weapons alongside unarmed combat quickly develops agility, coordination, and reflexes.

Escrima Concepts is a straightforward, effective and fast-paced martial art. It is built around the same concepts, both armed and unarmed. Escrima Concepts is suitable for all men and women over the age of 16. For classes, you will need indoor sportswear and shoes. Enroll and more information via the link below.

We are developing our services and need your feedback by Thursday 21 March. 

This survey is aimed at all students and staff of universities of applied sciences and universities who use SYKETTÄ exercise services. Our goal is to collect customer experiences and improve the overall quality of the service.

Among all willing respondents, 2 SYKETTÄ stickers for the academic year 2024-2025 will be drawn (69 €/academic year (incl. VAT 10%). Answering the survey does not require participation in the lottery. The survey results are used to develop SYKETTÄ services, which is coordinated by the Design Center Savonia.

Upcoming courses

Next Ensinuolet course (archery) will be held on 8.4.– 25.4.2024!

Course dates are on weeks 15, 16 and 17, Mondays and Thursdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. The course is held on Kotkankallio shelter's archery range (Niiralankatu 32). Course fee is 100 €. The fee covers the use of archery equipment onf Puijon Jousi, no need for your own bow or other equipment.

Aerial yoga for beginners (especially aimed at first-timers)

NB! This course is only for staff members. The course introduces you to aerial yoga and hammock as a tool. During classes, we make different pendants and proceed calmly between movements.

Minna Canth Day in Old Kuopio Museum, Tue 19.3. at 10–17

The University of Agder (UiA) is looking for two interns / Erasmus+ trainees

The interns start the internship in August 2024 and stay for one semester or a full year, until June 2025. Application deadline is the 1st of April.

The University of Agder (UiA) is a young and dynamic university, recognized for its modern teaching and research facilities and innovative use of technology and communication media. UiA has approximately 13 000 students in two campuses in the very south of Norway. The Intern will be based on the main campus in the city of Kristiansand but will also work at our campus in Grimstad, and will work closely with the staff from the International Office and other departments.

The main workplace will be our Global Lounge, an event hub and social area designated to welcome and support International and Norwegian students, guests and staff.
