Come along to start the academic year! The LoveZone Opening of the Academic Year will be held on Thursday 4 September 2025 at 15:00 at Kuopio Market Square. Before the LoveZone - Academic Year Kick-Off event, we will begin the academic year 2025–2026 at UEF’s Academic Year Opening Ceremony starting at 1.15 pm in Joensuu. The opening ceremony can also be followed online.
Before the LoveZone - Academic Year Kick-Off event, there will be a joint parade from Savilahti to Kuopio's market square for the students of Savo Vocational College, Savonia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Eastern Finland. The parade begins from Savilahdentie and university students, led by the ISYY board, will join the parade from Snellmania at around 2 pm. Students participating in the parade are encouraged to arrive at Snellmania well in advance of the departure. The parade is organized by Savo Vocational College and Savonia University of Applied Sciences.
At the Kuopio Market square the event's programme includes opening remarks for the academic year by student councils, congratulations to Kuopio on its 250th anniversary, and live music by artsit HUGO.
All UEF students and staff are welcome to join the event in the Market Square. The event is Savilahti area’s joint opening for the academic year. The event is organized in cooperation with Savo Vocational College, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, the University of Eastern Finland, Students' Association Salkku, Students' Union SAVOTTA, and the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland.
Right after the LoveZone will begin ISYY’s traditional City Orienteering, where students will go around their campus city in groups and complete different kinds of tasks given to them at different orienteering points.
City Orienteering is organised by ISYY.
