Sign up for stream restoration action!
On Friday, 18.9.2026, WWF Finland and the forestry company Tornator invite members of the UEF Student Union to enjoy nature and leave a positive handprint on the forest by helping restore a stream! The stream site to be restored is located in Eno, about an hour's drive from Joensuu, and free transport will be arranged for participants from Joensuu.
At the start of the event, participants will receive a short briefing on stream restoration. No prior experience is needed, but good basic fitness is required. We'll be carrying gravel and stones into the streambed and restoring spawning gravel beds for endangered fish.
Most of Finland's forests are commercial forests. That's why measures taken in commercial forests have a significant impact on our country's waterways, all the way from the smallest forest streams to the Baltic Sea. These restoration actions are part of a larger collaboration between WWF Finland and Tornator, Finland's largest private forest owner, aimed at curbing forestry-related emissions into waterways at the level of entire catchment areas. The goal of the WWF–Tornator collaboration is to mainstream water protection in forest management over wider areas and to safeguard aquatic nature more effectively. By removing old dams and restoring streambeds, we improve the living conditions of migratory fish and other stream species. Come help contribute to the wellbeing of our streams and restore a stream together with us!
The event also includes lunch and coffee, and it is completely free and open to everyone. All you need to bring is weather-appropriate outdoor clothing — WWF will provide everything else needed.
