Winter Classic 2024 Outdoor Hockey Match

Come experience the popular outdoor hockey match between UEF and Karelia UAS! The two universities are facing each other once again at Mehtimäki Finnish Baseball Stadium (Mehtimäenaukio 2, Joensuu) on Tuesday 16 January 2024. Come watch and cheer your favourites on with a hundred other spectators.

The match has free entrance. Tickets via Kide.app are used to estimate the number of spectators and spectators are let in in the order of appearance. Event is organized by the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) and SYKETTÄ Joensuu. Event supporters are the city of Joensuu, University of Eastern Finland, Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Regional Council of North Karelia and many more!

Initial Schedule:

• 16:30 Gates are open
• 17:15 Teams and referees warm-up
• 17.50 Ceremonial puck drop
• 18.00 Game starts
• 21.00 Event ends
• 22.00 Official After Party at Bar Play

Gates will open for the crowd at 16:30. In Kide.app there are free of charge tickets to the event, which purpose is to help organisers to estimate the amount of people at the event. Kide.app ticket won't cover the entry to the event, since only first 3500 will get in to the event area. There will be a security chech at the gates, so please leave all prohibited items (such as edged weapons or fireworks) and your own drinks home. Please arrive early and dress warlmy, with your student overalls if you have one.

There will be a competition and shows for the spectators before the game and during the breaks. Events official “limited edition” overall patch is on sale at the kiosk and before the event via kide.app. Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat will have kiosks with some snacks at the event. There will be at least warm juice, coffee and sausage sold at the kiosks and also designated K-18 area for serving alcoholic beverages. We will also arrange a raffle for the support of Icehearts ry. There will be 1500 raffle tickets available, 2€ each, and the main prize is two VIP Exclusive tickets to this summer's Blockfest festival.
