HAPPY TUESDAY!

As you might have noticed, Finnish spring is full of weather-related surprised! Now it seems like we can finally enjoy the sunny weather a bit longer. If you're spending a lot of time skiing or in other snowy areas during sunny days, remember to wear sunscreen as snow reflects a lot of light.

April is the month of the biggest student celebration - Vappu. You can start to get into Vappu -mindset by reading about ISYY's Vappu events in this newsletter.

Kind regards,

Salla
Coordinator of International Affairs in Joensuu (kv.joensuu(at)isyy.fi)

Interest Advocacy at Your Service

Don't have enough study right to complete your degree? No worries, you have a right to apply for extension of the study right to be able to complete your studies. Read the tips of ISYY's Interest Advocacy Specialists!

Interest Advocacy at Your Service is a post series, where ISYY’s Specialists for Interest Advocacy are writing about Student Advocacy and giving you tips about themes that you might encounter during your studies. Purpose of the post series is to help students to better understand their rights and responsibilities and also to remind them about ISYY’s Interest Advocacy Services.

In this post ISYY's Specialist Pekka Koivaara is writing about applying for extensions of the study right. A student has a right to apply for extension of the study right, if the given time is not enough to complete their degree. According to the Finnish University Law, the study right must be extended, if the student has a possibility to complete the studies in a decent time frame. The student’s life situation must be taken into account when extending the study right.

Remember, that you can always ask for help from the Student Union, if you face any challenges in your student life and don't know what to do!
