24,3 % of students voted in ISYY’s Representative Council Elections

The voting in the fourth Representative Council Elections of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) ended on Wednesday, 4th November.

The electoral lists DeeKu and Itä-Suomen Vihreä Vasemmisto celebrated election victory: both lists got six of their candidates to the Representative Council.

The vote-pullers of the elections were Henna Räisänen, who gathered 103 votes for herself and Paavo Kyyrönen who gathered 88 votes for himself. This year, 173 candidates were nominated in ISYY’s elections. The elections had a total of 13 lists of candidates.

The turnout was  24,3 %, which is an increase of  6,9 percentage points from 2013. A total of 3250 eligible voters used their right to vote. The elections were conducted entirely electronically.

The Representative Council of 39 members is the highest decision-making body in the Student Union. The new Representative Council will meet for the first time in December 2015.
