Riina Pääkkönen Has Started as ISYY`s Co-ordinator for the Bridges-Project

Riina Pääkkönen has started as ISYY`s co-ordinator for the Bridges-Project on 2nd of August 2021. Pääkkönen will be working at the Joensuu campus of the University of Eastern Finland until 31st of October 2022.

The aim of the Bridges-project is to strengthen the communality, engagement, and inclusion of students and prevent exclusion especially due to the demand the Covid-19 pandemic has created. The Bridges-Project is realised due to the grant awarded to the University of Eastern Finland from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Pääkkönen has graduated as a Master of Arts in Education (Class Teacher and Home Economics Teacher) from the University of Eastern Finland. During her studies, she operated in the classroom teacher students’ association Popsi ry for three years. She has also served as a peer tutor and a student representative in the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Philosophy. In addition, she will also begin master’s studies in career guidance in the fall of 2021.

– I’m so excited that with this very important project, I am able to develop activities related to student well-being and communality here at the University of Eastern Finland. It’s also wonderful to be able to utilize the expertise learned from the student association activities. I can’t wait until we can start this project properly and I’ll get to meet you students on both campuses, Pääkkönen says.

The ISYY Executive Board made the decision about the co-ordinator for the Bridges-Project on 10th of June 2021.
