Ronja Mäkinen Has Started as ISYY’s Intern for the Bridges-Project

Ronja Mäkinen has started an internship for the Bridges-project with The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY). Mäkinen is a master’s student in social psychology at the Kuopio campus of the University of Eastern Finland.

The tasks of the internship include the planning and preparation of execution of the Bridges-project, which is realised due to the grant awarded to the University of Eastern Finland from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The aim of the project is to strengthen the communality, engagement, and inclusion of students and prevent exclusion especially due to the demand the Covid-19 pandemic has created.

– Doing my internship on the topic of increasing well-being and inclusion feels especially important during the pandemic, and on the other hand this internship is possible due to it. The well-being and interest advocacy of students has been for a long time close to my heart and I have advanced these matters previously in several roles at both ISYY and the university, so it is wonderful to return to familiar surroundings to work with the same themes. Students need real measures of support for studying and attaching themselves to the study community. I look forward to the advancement and results of the project, Mäkinen says.
