ISYY's candidate Emilia Enroth has been elected to the SYL Board 2026

The Chair of the Executive Board of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY), Emilia Enroth, has been elected to the Board of the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL) for the year 2026. The last time ISYY’s candidate was elected was to the Board 2025, and this is the first time ISYY’s candidate has been elected to the SYL Board two times in a row.

The SYL General Assembly elected the Board 2026 for the union on Saturday 15 November. ISYY’s candidate Emilia Enroth was elected to the board. Emilia Enroth, 30, is a law student studying at UEF Joensuu campus. Enroth has been the Chair of the Executive Board of the Student Union in autumn 2025, and formerly worked on sectors of academic affairs, environment and development cooperation as a member of the board.

– I am extremely grateful for the trust and support I have received. It is a great honor to be able to advocate for a better future for university students. I am looking forward to next year and working with the new SYL Board, says Enroth.

On Friday 14 November the General Assembly also elected President for the Board 2026, Petra Pulli, 28, from the Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY). Six elected Board Members are Aada Aho (TYY), Marcell Breta (TREY), Emilia Enroth (ISYY), Laura Heino (TREY), Viena Pentikäinen (HYY) and Vilma Sippola (OYY).

The National Union of University Students in Finland represents approximately 150,000 university students, and its members consist of the student unions of all universities in Finland. The Union is making an impact on the themes of academic affairs, social policy and international affairs.

The General Assembly is held every year at the end of autumn and it is the highest decision-making body of the union. The General Assembly also decided about the budget and the action plan for the union for the upcoming year.
