The Voting Aid for the Representative Council elections of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) is now open. The Advance Voting of the elections will begin next week on Monday 27 October at 9 am. The Advance Voting is held from Monday to Friday (until 2 pm) 27.–31.10.2025 and the actual Election Day is 6.11.2025 when the voting takes place from 8 am to 4pm. You can cast your vote in ISYY’s electronic voting system, where you can also find the candidate gallery until the start of the Advance Voting. From the Candidate gallery you will find the Candidate’s name and voting number as well as their picture and a short introduction if they have chosen to add them there.
The Voting Aid operated by the National Union of the University Students in Finland (SYL) is now open for ISYY members to go through! The Candidates of the ISYY Representative Council elections had a possibility to answer the questions and now you can see what they have answered. From the Voting Aid you can find those candidates, who have answered the questions.
By answering the questions in SYL Voting Aid yourself, you can find the candidate who has mostly the same thoughts as you about the asked questions. The themes in the Voting Aid are well-being and subsistence, city and housing, sustainable development, internationality, studies, organisations, associations and the student union and advocacy. Also some questions about the things unique to ISYY have been added to the Voting Aid.
Should ISYY exert its influence in ensuring that a larger share of the student housing to be built will be studio apartments rather than communal housing? Should ISYY only comment on local matters or also try to make an impact nationwide? Should ISYY invest more in sustainable development or take a more active part in averting the environmental and climate crisis? See what the candidates have answered.
ISYY also organised an Electoral Panel on 20 October on Joensuu campus Carelia and there is still a chance to see the panel tomorrow 21 October on Kuopio campus Snellmania from noon to 1 pm. The panels can be watched from ISYY’s Youtube channel as a stream (Kuopio tomorrow) or as a recording.
