Application announcement: Student representative to the FSHF delegation

The Finnish Student Health Foundation operates as a provider of student health care services in accordance with the Act on Student Health Care (659/2019). The purpose of the foundation, according to its rules, is "to take care of the health care of students at universities and colleges, as well as to support and promote scientific research that serves this purpose in one way or another."

The foundation has a 30-member delegation, which appoints the board that manages the foundation's affairs and to which the foundation's board is responsible for its activities. The Finnish Union of Student Unions (SYL) appoints 9 of the foundation's members, and 7 of these are nominated by the student unions. Student councils' representation shifts follow the bylaws approved by SYL's union meeting in 2018. In the cycle starting at the beginning of 2023, ISYY has the right to have an actual representative in the delegation, and a representative of the University of Jyväskylä Student Union (JYY) will act as his deputy.

The FSHF delegation meets as a rule twice a year or whenever the chairman of the delegation, the board of the foundation or if ⅓ of the members of the delegation so request.

  • At the delegation's spring meeting, the last year's financial statements will be discussed; the board's activity report and a decision are made on the measures caused by these.
  • At the autumn meeting of the delegation, the foundation's action plan and budget for the coming year will be discussed; the chairman and vice-chairman of the delegation are elected, and potential board members of the foundation are appointed.

The delegation meets in Helsinki. The delegation member will be reimbursed for the travel expenses incurred from the meeting by public transport. Unfortunately, interpretation or the translation of the meeting papers can’t be guaranteed.

The student union of the University of Eastern Finland is applying for two (2) candidates to be members of the YTHS delegation for the term 2023–2024. According to the delegation's selection regulations, ISYY must present two student members to the delegation, who must represent different genders. The decision on the persons to be presented is made by ISYY's board and SYL's board chooses the representative of the final delegation. Every member of ISYY who has registered to be present and paid their membership fee on time is eligible to apply as a candidate for the delegation. Familiarity with student health care, FSHF strategy and students' health and well-being issues is considered an advantage for applicants.

A member of the delegation is expected to have a brisk approach to things, a vision for the development of student health care, and a willingness to participate in the meetings of the delegation.

Reasoned applications with CV should be submitted to the student union's academical issues and social policy expert Mikko Aaltonen at koso@isyy.fi by Wednesday 23 November. by 12:00.
