The 16th Annual Celebration of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) will be held Saturday 21 March 2026 in Joensuu, Original Sokos Hotel Kimmel’s event space Sirkkala. We warmly welcome all ISYY members and friends of ISYY to celebrate our Student Union.
The Cocktail Reception for invited guests starts at 4pm on Saturday 21 March 2026 and the location will be informed via email to the guests. If you want to give a greeting at the reception, please mention this in the registration form dedicated to the invited guests.
The Annual Celebration will be held in Original Sokos Hotel Kimmel (Itäranta 1), event space Sirkkala, starting at 6pm. Please arrive at least half an hour beforehand (5.30pm) so we may start on time. The lobby bar will be open to serve guests already before the dinner.
The official afterparty will be held in Bepop (Siltakatu 8) which is open until 4.30 am. Admission to the afterparty is included in the price of the dinner card.
The dinner will be served as a buffet. The dinner card does not include drinks, but our guests can purchase their preferred beverages at the venue.
All degree students at the University of Eastern Finland are members of the Student Union (ISYY). In addition, exchange students, postgraduate students, contract-based students, students with the alumni study right, as well as students in continuing professional education studies may join ISYY. Registration takes place through Kide.app and is binding. If you are unable to attend the Annual Celebration, you may sell or give your ticket to someone else. Please also inform us so that we can, if possible, update the seating arrangements and place cards.
Please be careful when selecting your dinner ticket. We will verify the membership status of those who have purchased a dinner ticket intended for ISYY members. If you experience any issues with Kide.app, please contact ISYY’s Community Coordinator, Eveliina Scharin (yk(at)isyy.fi).
Registration closes on 22 February 2026 at 23:59. More detailed information will be sent to all registered participants closer to the Annual Celebration.
During registration, we will collect personal data necessary for organising the event. Read more about our data protection.
The dress code for the Annual Celebration is white tie or dark suit with academic decorations (e.g. medals, ribbons). We encourage using rented, borrowed, or already owned formal attire. Purchasing a new outfit is not a requirement for attending the celebration, and sustainable choices are in line with the values of the event. Personal style and self-expression are allowed and encouraged, as long as the clothing remains festive and respects the dignity of the occasion.
As a member of ISYY you are entitled to wear our Student Union Ribbon. The ribbon can be purchased at ISYY’s offices.
On Sunday 22 March we will gather for the Herring Breakfast (sillis) at 12pm. Sillis is a brunch-style event held on the day following the formal dinner, featuring food and optional program activities. Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks and beverages if they wish. Many attendees wear their student overalls but there is no official dress code. Sillis is included in the price of the dinner card. The address of the Sillis venue will be informed via email to registered Annual Celebration guests.
For those who are coming to our Celebration from Kuopio, we are offering a bus transport to Joensuu on Saturday 21 March and back to Kuopio on Sunday 22 March after the Sillis. This transport is included in the price of the dinner card.
Annual Celebration guests have the option to book hotel rooms at Original Sokos Hotel Kimmel with a fixed price with a code BISYY26. Hotel rooms can be booked at a discounted rate until 13.3.2026 6.00pm. After this room reservations will be charged at the regular price. Please note that there is a limited number of rooms at the special offer price.
