Remember to Pay the Healthcare Fee for Students in Higher Education

Students in universities and universities of applied sciences who are entitled to use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS, Finnish abbreviation YTHS) must pay a healthcare fee to Kela.

You must pay the student healthcare fee for each term. Kela will not send you a bill for the fee, so you must make sure to pay it on your own initiative by 31 of January.

You can pay the healthcare fee for the spring term or for both the spring and the autumn term if you continue your studies in the autumn.

If you don't pay the fee, Kela can withhold the fee and the late-payment fee from your study grant payment, or it can be referred to the enforcement authority for collection.

Instructions on how to pay the fee can be found on KELA's website. If you are not sure whether you have to pay the fee, check on KELA's website who must pay the healthcare fee for students in higher education.
