Anti-Racism in the Everyday and Civic Action Seminar in Joensuu

Anti-racism in the everyday and civic action seminar invites you to investigate manifestations of everyday racism and learn methods to resist it. In the morning, you can take part in workshops in Metria building (some of which are in English or in Finnish and English), and in the afternoon in a Finnish-language seminar (Futura building). The speakers of the seminar include Adjunct Professor Anna Rastas (her topic is Everyday Anti-Racism) and Miriam Attias who is a specialist in community negotiations, her topic being Negotiating conflicts between different population groups, among many others.

The event is open to everyone but the workshops and seminar require registration by 17 March:

You are also welcome to join us @Metria cafeteria at 10-11. Opinsauna – Learning Spaces project organizes a pop up café where you can come to ponder what a student can do in a reception centre and how it is possible to study there. You can just pop in, no registration needed!

In Futura-building (F104) at 9-16, there is a show room where you can see photos and a documentary film of the activities of students at Lehtiniemi reception centre nearby Savonlinna. You can also purchase a book by KOTO-project ”Kohtaamisia taidolla ja taiteella” (á 12€). More info HERE
