On the same date with Campus Happening and City Orienteering, 7 September 2023, ISYY is organising a painting event at the campus area from 12 pm to 6 pm. At the event students of the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) will paint an artwork designed by an artist Veera Launonen to the underpass that goes below the Savilahdentie at the crossroads of Savilahdentie and Neulaniementie (from Snellmania to Tietoteknia, see the picture linked below). The artwork designed by Veera Launonen celebrates the communality spirit of our university community and the cooperation across the study fields. All UEF students are warmly welcome to join the painting.
The artwork painted by students will represent goals that can be accomplished with cooperations for our future students, scientists and citizens. The artist Veera Launonen, chosen for the event, has designed a piece whose purpose is to emphasize the joy created by cooperation and working in a group. According to Launonen, working together and networking strengthens faith in support and helps prepare for the challenges ahead.
Happiness in the tunnel - painting event works in cooperation with the Valon kaava -project implemented in Savilahti in the city of Kuopio. The University of Eastern Finland and ISYY have also been involved in planning the event. The goal of the Valon kaava -project is to arouse interest in observing one’s surroundings and to create life in Savilahti all day and all year round. Thanks to the cooperation, students of Savilahti will also get to influence the environment by bringing out their own handprints.
There is a free entrance to the event on Thursday 7 September 2023 from 12 pm to 6 pm. During the event, you can freely join the painting whenever it is best for you. All the materials are covered by the organiser of the event. Please note that you should wear clothing that you don't mind getting paint on, if the paint splatters.
We want to remind you that attending the event does not require any artistic skills. Anyone can join and paint. The artist will clean up the walls of the tunnel beforehand and will prepare the artwork, so that students can just come to the event and fill the artwork with colours.
First hundred participants will receive a unique ISYY painting event overall badge! The event is located in the underpass that goes under the Savilahdentie in the crossroads of Savilahdentie and Neulaniementie.
The event might close the underpass for a couple of days so that the preparation, painting can be done without disturbance and so that the artwork can dry. We will give information on this page about the effects when we have more information.
