Student Blast – the Academic Year Opening at Joensuu Market Square on Thursday 3 September 2026! Before the market square event we will begin the academic year 2026–2027 at UEF’s Academic Year Opening Ceremony in Kuopio. The opening ceremony can also be followed online.

All UEF students and staff are welcome to join the event in the Market Square. In Joensuu the event will gather together students of UEF and Karelia UAS and it is is organised in cooperation with the City of Joensuu, Joensuu City Center Association Virta, University of Eastern Finland, Karelia University of Applied Sciences and its student union POKA.
Right after the Student Blast will begin ISYY’s traditional City Orienteering, where students will go around their campus city in groups and complete different kinds of tasks given to them at different orienteering points. The evening will end with an after party.
City Orienteering and its after party are organised by ISYY.
