The Wellbeing Week of ISYY and the University of Eastern Finland will be celebrated again on October 3rd-7th 2022. This time the theme of the week is brain’s wellbeing.

Constant stress burdens our brain and at the same time negatively affects coping in everyday life. According to the Finnish Brain Association, our brain needs activity, but also rest. Everyone can promote the brain's wellbeing themselves, and small everyday choices have far-reaching effects. The purpose of Wellbeing Week is to offer UEF's students and staff a program that promotes wellbeing throughout the week.

This year, the theme of the Wellbeing week will be approached from many different angles, such as through nutrition, culture and exercise. In addition to both campuses, the program is also available online. The week's activities are free of charge and some require advance registration. You can find information about this under the activity.

See the week's schedule below. At the bottom of the page you can also find information about the program that will take place throughout the week.

Monday 3.10.

The Wellbeing week starts with the arrival of the Finnish Kennel Club's care dogs to the campuses, at Alkukivet in Joensuu and in front of Lukema in Kuopio between 12 noon and 2 pm. According to Yle's article, pets reduce stress and relax. Blood pressure drops, and the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases decreases. The good effects are transmitted regardless, even if the pet is not one's own. In addition to petting the dogs, coffee and chocolate are available. Welcome to kick off Hyvinvointiviikko together!

Wednesday 5.10. we celebrate Sports Afternoon, where students and staff are exempted from teaching from 12.15 pm by the principals' decision. In the Sports Afternoon, in addition to the normal SYKETTÄ exercises, there are plenty of sports activities and special offers in sports venues for students and staff. In addition, at the end of the Sports Afternoon, you can head for the official after party of the Sports Afternoon. You can find additional campus-specific information from the SYKETTÄ's websites.

Also in Joensuu there is an opportunity to attend Afternoon Tunes concert at Carelia lobby at 2 pm-2.30 pm. According to the Finnish Brain Association, music promotes our learning and attention. The concert is part of UEF's and Joensuu Conservatory of Music's monthly concert series.
