Welcome to ISYY’s second working life day 10.5.!

ISYY’s second working life themed day is held on 10 May starting at 9.15 am. You can see the day’s programme below. The first lecture is aimed at Finnish students and it is about unemployment funds in Finland and the second lecture is about networking via LinkedIn for international students. In between the lectures, you can go to ISYY’s CV photo pop-up  on campus and get your CV picture taken by a photographer for free!

The lectures are held online and you can follow them on ISYY’s Youtube channel. Questions can be asked also via YouTube’s comment section.

Schedule

9:15-11:00 Lecture by Johanna Laatu and Anna Lilja from the General Unemployment Fund (in Finnish)

  • Two representatives from the General Unemployment Fund (YTK) will introduce what unemployment funds are and why you should join one already as a student.

11:00-13:00 Photograph for your CV

  • Come and get your CV photo taken by a photographer on campus! You can find the locations below and come at a time that suits you between 11 am and 1 pm. Please note that the pictures are taken on a first come, first served basis so be fast. The photos are uploaded to a shared cloud file to which you will get a link via email after a few days and you can download your photo afterwards for yourself. Eeli Gröhn is taking the photos in Joensuu and Katja Hartikainen in Kuopio.

13:30-14:30 Lecture about LinkedIn, Suvi Pesonen (in English)

  • Suvi Pesonen (Communications Manager at Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of North Savo, ELY-keskus in Finnish) will talk about the secrets of networking in LinkedIn which is a business and employment-oriented online service platform. The lecture will cover, for example, how LinkedIn works as well as why you should create a LinkedIn profile and how to create one for yourself. In addition, Roham Malekzadeh.B (an intern at the ELY Centre) will share his experiences with LinkedIn from the student perspective.

ISYY’s working life event is divided into four different days throughout the year 2022. The days will cover different topics from job hunting to skills needed in working life and we will have speakers as well as organise workshops. Some of the programme is in Finnish, but part of the days’ programme is aimed specifically at international students and is completely in English. You are of course welcome to join the Finnish lectures too!
