#whatISYY: Trainings

This time the #whatISYY series introduces training and education organised by ISYY!

ISYY organises trainings annually for the active members of student organisations and clubs. We begin every calendar year efficiently with an organisation training where the new Executive Board members of student organisations get to familiarise themselves with the Associations Act and the best practices concerning their specific role in the Board. During the training, the new Executive Board members will also meet and get to know active members from other student organisations as well as the Student Union. The organisation training aims at providing the Executive Board members with a readiness to manage their posts. Educators include ISYY’s staff and Executive Board members, previous active members of ISYY as well as other professionals.

In the beginning of 2018, ISYY organised a separe training for student clubs for the first time. The purpose of the training was to support the everyday activities, finances and communications of clubs.

Helena Eronen, the Data Protection Officer of ISYY, also educated student organisations in matters related to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) this year. In spring, student organisations also had a chance to participate in a training organised by Seta – LGBTI Rights in Finland, Allianssi and ISYY on parity and the ways of interfering with harassment situations.

The idea of trainings organised by ISYY is to offer student clubs and organisations information and expertise and to support their daily work but to also bring the Student Union closer to organisations so that we are able to help and answer different kinds of questions the organisations might have.
