19.2 % of the eligible voters gave their votes during the advance voting for the ISYY’s Representative Council elections. Advance voting activity increased by 6.73 percent compared to the elections of 2021.
Advance voting turnout of the eight Representative Council Elections of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland is 19.2 %, so 2,771 eligible voters gave their votes in advance. Compared to the previous elections, held in 2021, the advance voting turnout increased. Last time the voter turnout was 12,47 % (1,702 persons). Advance voting was held electronically during the 31st October and 7th of November 2022 and there were more advance voting days than usual.
The actual voting day of the Representative Council Elections is the 8th of November 2023 and the voting is possible 00.01–18:00. Voters can vote electronically e.g. on their own mobile devices, anywhere they want to, via Tuudo’s Election Site. The Elections elect the highest decision-making body of the Student Union, 39-member Representative Council. The Representative Council works similarly to the Finnish Parliament, but just at the university and it represents university students.
There are altogether 113 candidates from 9 different lists of candidates in the ISYY’s Representative Council elections this year. The Representative Council elections are held completely electronically. All members of the Student Union, who have registered as present students at the University of Eastern Finland before the 24th of October 2023, are eligible voters.
ISYY will announce the Representative Council Elections’ results on the 8th of November after the votes have been counted. The results will be published on both campuses on the 8rd of November 2023 at the Election Night, held from 5.30 pm onwards.
