Newsletters and ISYY offices will have a Christmas break

ISYY offices and newsletters will begin their Christmas Holidays this week.

Today's newsletter is the last of the year and we will publish next time on Tuesday 9 January. The last that ISYY offices will be open this year is Wednesday 13th December.

After the Christmas Holidays we will be back at your service on Monday 8 January with our familiar opening hours.

Application period to the ISYY Annual Celebration team has been continued

The Executive Board of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) decided on their meeting on Wednesday 28 November to continue the call for team members to the ISYY's Annual Celebration team until 13 December 2023. The first application period ended on 27 November and by that date we received three applicants for the team. There is still room for more people and ideas in the team!

Read the original application call and apply by 13 December! The Annual Celebration of ISYY 2024 will be held in Joensuu.

Present your ISYY Freshman Bingo by 13 December and join the raffle!

ISYY's Freshman Bingo will come to an end on Wednesday 13 December, when ISYY offices are open for the last time this year at 10-12 and 13-15. By completing at least one bingo row, you'll get an ISYY FUKSI overall patch and you can take part in the Freshman Bingo Raffle, where you can win a gift card to a café.

You can save the bingo sheet to yourself electronically from ISYY website or you can collect a printed bingo sheet from ISYY office.

Access rights to the gyms must be applied by 17.12.2023 🏋🏽‍♂️

Access rights for the end of the year to Portti54, Tikkarinne gym and Joensuu Areena gym must be applied by 17.12.2023. The last autumn access rights will be added in week 51. Access rights will be added again in the spring from 8.1.2024.

🎟️ Access rights to gyms are valid according to the validity of the SYKETTÄ sticker until 31.12. or 31.8. The application form must be filled out again every time you purchase a new SYKETTÄ sticker.

❗Access right to the gyms must therefore be applied again if you will purchase a new SYKETTÄ sticker for spring 2024. SYKETTÄ stickers for the spring semester will be on sale on 11.12.2023.

Career planning and job seeking courses for the spring 2024!

Where will I find work? How will I be convincing in the job interview? What can I do with my degree? What are my strengths? Am I in the right field? What should I study as a minor subject? What rights and obligations do I have as an employee?

Students pondering about their future directions or seeking traineeships and employment are troubled by many questions. Nevertheless, don’t worry! Practical guidance, knowledge and support is there for you on the career planning and job seeking courses offered by UEF Career Services. 

The first career planning and job seeking courses begin on 8th January 2024! Find the course details in Peppi.

 

The courses for the academic year 2023–2024 include the following courses in English and Finnish:

  • Career planning – self-study course, 1 ECTS
  • Career planning – practical exercises, 1 ECTS
  • Job seeking – self-study course, 1 ECTS
  • Job seeking – practical exercises, 1 ECTS
  • Basics of Finnish working life – self-study course, 1 ECTS (only in English)

The courses offered by the UEF Career Services are meant for all students to support and help them during studies and when the move towards working life becomes timely. The courses offer you knowledge, skills, courage and attitude for the future working life. In these courses, you can also clarify your thoughts about your future and career possibilities.

The healthcare fee for students in higher education will remain unchanged in 2024: the fee is 73.60 euros per year or 36.80 euros per semester. The fee for unattended and uncancelled appointments will be increased to 56.70 euros at the beginning of 2024 by the government decree.

This year, we are once again building an idyllic and program-filled Christmas Market on the Market Square with its sales booths and carousels, where market-goers will find holiday treats and gifts for Santa's sack.

The Christmas Market is open 15.-23.12.

This is an issue of Weekly Feed at Joensuu campus. Weekly Feed is the English language newsletter of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY). You are receiving this letter on your email because you are a member of ISYY and are studying at Joensuu campus or because you have joined the mailing list yourself. 

Weekly Feed provides you with current information on matters related to the Student Union, UEF or other organisations close to students, such as FSHS. In addition, the newsletter provides you with information on events taking place at campus or the campus city.
