Experience Finnish Vappu Celebration in Savo-Karjala Excursion

Savo-Karjala Excursion is one of the most famous and popular May Day celebration traditions of the Student Union (ISYY). The first Savo-Karjala Excursion was organised in 1990. The event is held every year in Joensuu and Kuopio on 29th April despite the day of the week.

During the Savo-Karjala Excursion, students circle around Eastern Finland (North Savo and North Karelia regions) on buses on a predetermined route, which will remain a secret until the buses start their journey, and enjoy refreshments in different bars and restaurants along the way.

To attend the event, it is not required that you can speak Finnish. The most important thing is that you and your friends have fun and you can keep up with the schedule of the bus. If there are English speaking people in the buses, we'll ask the leaders of to bus to give all the important information about the schedule in English.

Ticket sales start on Tuesday, April 4th at 8:00 am at ISYY office (in Studentia building, C entrance, Yliopistonranta 3). The remaining tickets, if there are any, will go on sale to Kide.app on the same day at 11:00 am. The ticket price is 20 €.

UEF participates in the national week against racism 20.-26.3.2023

The national week against racism is held on 20–26 March 2023 with the aim of learning to identify racism and discrimination. Nationality, skin colour, ethnicity, religion or other factors should not influence the way someone is treated and the opportunities afforded to them by society.

UEF participates in the week against racism by organising a gallery walk on privileges on both campuses. The gallery walk stations can be visited in the Aurora building in Joensuu and in the 2nd floor lobby of Snellmania in Kuopio.

During the week UEF also launches an open Yammer group on equality, diversity and inclusion. In addition, the campus libraries host a book exhibition on the themes of the week both in the facilities of the campus library and in UEF-Primo.
