The Executive Board, which is elected by the ISYY Council, exercises administrative authority, executive power, and decision-making power in our Student Union as laid down in ISYY's Rules. Did you now that you can see our public documents, such as ISYY's rules in our website's Documents Section. Since ISYY's administrative language is Finnish, many of the documents can be found only in Finnish. But for example ISYY Rules and Agendas of ISYY Council can be found also in English.

ISYY Board will be posting about their actions frequently in ISYY's social media, e.g. the Interest Advocacy News posts that will be published monthly.

SYKETTÄ Kuopio tutors

Do you want to play easygoing floorball, see how it is like in dance class, or maybe get to know the university gyms? SYKETTÄ tutors will help!

SYKETTÄ tutors have a weekly shift at Studentia on Mondays at 16-17 completely free of charge and without a SYKETTÄ sticker. It is also possible to go to a group exercise class with the tutor, or you can for example ask the tutor to go for a run with you!

Here's how you can participate:

• Form a team of four.
• Choose a suitable name for your team and possibly coordinate matching outfits.
• One team member registers the entire team via the registration form
• Bring along a lot of good spirit and team camaraderie! Don't forget to bring your cheering squad, as everyone present has a chance to participate in the prize draw.

UEF will organise a pop-up photo studio in the lobby of Snellmania on 14 February

Do you want to send photo greetings to your friends and family? Would you like to get photos of your fellow students and yourself to store in a box of memories? Come to our free photo shoot!

The UEF Communications and Media Relations will set up a pop-up photo studio in the lobby of Carelia on the Joensuu campus and in the lobby of Snellmania on the Kuopio campus on Wednesday 14 February 2024, at 11:00-13:00. You can have a photo taken of you and your friends, and the photo will be sent to you later.

We will photograph groups in the order of arrival, so no advance registration is required.

VR is now giving student discount for postgraduate students

Those studying for a postgraduate degree in a higher education institution or university are eligible for a student discount from 1 January 2024. VR will check your eligibility for the student discount by asking you to provide a student card. Frank has added the VR logo to their postgraduate students' digital student card. However, please note that the old plastic postgraduate student cards do not have the VR logo that entitles you to the discount so you should buy a new one or use the digital version.

Winterfest Tue 27.2.2024

Student organisations of Kuopio proudly presents the annual student winter fair WINTERFEST.

Winterfest is a traditional multidisciplinary student activity organised by student union SAVOTTA of Savonia in co-operation with student union ISYY of UEF and other Kuopio-based student organisations. The day is divided into three different “events”.

Winterfest begins with ice fishing and snow football at the Savilahti are at 12.00. The group competition is held from 13.00 till 17.00. You can also try out your skills in human curling and snow bowling or enjoy the sauna and hot tub provided by engineering students in case you feel a bit chilly.

After that the evening continues in Amarillo and Hospoda Koza. The night ends with the Afterparty in Apteekkari where Kube makes sure all the party people are entertained. Event participants are offered a free-of-charge nonstop bus transports from the city centrum to Savilahti and back from 13.15 to 19.15.

The ticket sale starts on Kide.app on Monday 12 February 2024.

If you would like to have something featured in the Weekly Feed, please send a short (max. 500 characters including spaces), informative description of the event/activity in English to either kv.kuopio@isyy.fi (Kuopio events) or kv.joensuu@isyy.fi (Joensuu events).
