We know that many of you would like to meet Finns, learn Finnish and get to know Finnish culture during your stay in Finland. Also, ISYY wants to promote internationalisation at home for Finnish students. Hence, ISYY is organising a Finnish Friend hangout on Wednesday 15 March from 4 pm till 5.15 pm in classroom AU206 (Aurora building, entrance B) in Joensuu. ISYY offers small snacks for the participants.
The hangout in March starts a short pilot project of the new Finnish Friend concept in Joensuu and based on the pilot, the activities will kick off in autumn semester 2023 on both campuses. The pilot project in spring lasts till the end of May and the participants are encouraged to answer a feedback survey of the Finnish Friend concept.
The idea of the Finnish Friend is that ISYY provides a hangout opportunity for Finnish and international students and helps the participants to get to know each other. After this, the participants will split into smaller groups and they can meet as much as they want since participation is based on volunteering. The groups could, for example, go outdoors, play board games, get to know the campus city, bake, participate in BRIDGES events together and go to a SYKETTÄ exercise class. Please note that the activities are not required to involve money!
The pilot project can include 30 Finnish students and 30 international students. The sign-up form for international students is now full. Thank you for your interest!
