The Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland
Hello representative for a candidate list,
This page contains basic information about the ISYY Representative Council elections and is designed to assist you in establishing an election list and managing the election process. The elections will be conducted through an electronic voting system available at https://isyy-vaalit.uef.fi. The system allows you to create a candidate list, stand as a candidate, and vote. According to ISYY's election regulations, the representative for a candidate list’s notification, candidate consent, nomination for the candidate list, and election alliance notifications can also be submitted on paper to the ISYY office. Paper forms are available at the ISYY offices during business hours and on the Election Documents webpage.
Further information about the Representative Council elections can be found on ISYY's website under the "Representative Council Elections" section. The website will be updated as the fall progresses. Be sure to follow ISYY's social media channels and the News section of the website for all important updates related to the elections.
After the elections, training sessions will be organized for the newly elected Representative Council on their responsibilities and meetings.

Election Advertising Guidelines (pdf)
1. Familiarize yourself with the ISYY Election Rules, if you are not already familiar.
2. Fill out the Representative for a candidate list's form electronically in the voting system or on paper. Once the form is submitted, your list will be “created,” and you can begin gathering candidates.
a) You can also nominate yourself as a candidate for your list using the same electronic form. If you wish, you can add a photo of yourself to the form.
b) If creating the list on paper, also submit a candidate consent form if you wish to run as a candidate yourself.
3. An ISYY employee will add the list’s name, the Representative for the candidate list’s name, and contact information (only if you have agreed to share it) to the ISYY website’s Representatives for the Candidate lists section, so students can see that the list has been established. Note: If you submit your list on paper, make sure to send the information to ISYY as soon as possible.
a) In addition to the list’s name and the Representative for the Candidate list's information, we can add a brief description of your list and a link to the list's website or social media on ISYY’s website. Send the description and link to the Election Coordinator by email (vaalikoordinaattori(at)isyy.fi) by 1 October.
4. Campaign and promote your list. You can take advantage of ISYY’s organized campaign days at the campuses as well as the banners available for election advertising.
5. You will receive an email to the address you provided when candidates have signed up for your list. Go to the electronic voting system to approve them. If you don’t want a candidate on your list, do not confirm their candidacy. Candidates can also register via a paper form, and you will need to approve them by signing their candidate consent form before they submit it to ISYY’s office.
6. Submit the paper candidate list to ISYY before the nomination deadline, 1 October at 3:00 PM. The electronic system will compile your candidate list as you approve candidates.
7. Keep in touch with your candidates and keep them informed of important dates and details. As the Representative for the Candidate list, you are responsible for your list.
8. Assist your candidates with election advertising.
The Central Election Committee will confirm the combined candidate list and candidate numbers twenty (20) days before the election, and the list will be published on Election Lists and Candidates-page on Tuesday, 7 October.
The National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL) offers a voting aid tool (vaalikone) for candidates. It is managed by SYL. Schedule:
