ISYY's delegation to the General Assembly of SYL is confirmed

The Representative Council of the Student Union of the University of Eastern Finland (ISYY) has named its delegation to represent ISYY in the General Assembly of the National Union of Students in Finland (SYL) in Espoo Korpilampi 18.11.2022 – 19.11.2022. In the Meeting Notice of the National Assembly is e.g. the Action Plan and Budget for the year 2023 and also the SYL Board 2023 will be elected. ISYY's candidate to the SYL Board is Pauliina Ryökäs.

Formation of the delegation

The National Union of the University Students in Finland in a student organisation, that represents approximately 130 000 university students in Finland. All the Student Unions in Finland are members of SYL. The General Assembly makes all the big decisions considering the unions actions and it is held once a year. Every Student Union has their own delegation according to the amount of members in the Student Union, each student union has one representative for each beginning 1000 members, meaning that e.g. ISYY has approximately 13 500 members and we have 14 representatives in our delegation. Additionally, ISYY will send 6 substitute representatives to the General Assembly.

ISYY's Representative Council has decided to form the delegation during their term 2022-2023 in a way, that each Representative Council group can name representatives to the delegation according to the distribution of the ISYY Representative Council and also in a way that possible disproportions will be justified in next years delegation. In other words, the more the group has places in our Representative Council, the more they have places in the delegation. Nevertheless, all the groups are represented in the actual 14 representatives at least in one delegation of their two year term 2022-2023. This year the groups named representatives by the following: 

• DeeKu: 2 representatives, 1 substitute
• Vihreä lista: 2 representatives, 1 substitute
• Kylterit: 2 representatives
• FaBio: 2 representatives
• Savilahden sivistyneet: 2 representatives
• Itä-Suomen Vihreä Vasemmisto: 1 representatives
• Keskeiset: 1 representatives, 1 substitute
• Opiskelevat kokoomuslaiset: 1 representatives, 1 substitute
• ISYY:n demariopiskelijat: 1 representatives

Two last substitute positions will be named for the ISYY's SYL Board candidate and to their support person. Additionally, one person from ISYY staff will be named as an observer.

ISYY's General Assembly consists of 14 actual and 6 substitute representatives. Chairpersons of the Delegation are ISYY Board's Chair Sami Tanskanen and the Second Vice Chair Roosa Ikimeri.
