ISYY is looking for new representatives for the YUFE Student Forum!

ISYY is now looking for two students to join the YUFE Student Forum and bring their perspective in the implementation of the YUFE vision. We are seeking specifically one bachelor’s degree student and one PhD researcher to continue the work of previous representatives. We expect the applicants to have at least one year of degree studies left before their estimated graduation date and hope the new representatives can start already in September 2025.

Student-centredness, equality, openness, diversity and inclusivity are at the core of the YUFE identity. Students with all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

What’s YUFE?

The Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) is an alliance of ten young research-intensive universities, and UEF is a part of it. YUFE aims to be the role model of a young, student-centred, equalitarian, open, and inclusive European University. It is based on co-operation between higher education institutions, the public and the private sector, as well as citizens across Europe.

What is the YUFE Student Forum?

The YUFE Student Forum is a place of influence for students. It ensures that the voices of students are heard throughout all development and decision-making processes at YUFE. Each member university, including UEF, has its own bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate level representative in the YUFE Student Forum.

These altogether 30 students across Europe elect their own Board to lead the Student Forum. They also take part in the development work done in the YUFE working groups in different ways.

What is your role?

As a YUFE Student Representative for UEF, your role will take many forms. You will:

  • co-operate with your fellow student-colleagues and UEF’s YUFE Team, communicating relevant YUFE activities to UEF students and hearing out their opinions
  • form a part of the international YUFE Student Forum, ensuring that UEF students’ input is also included
  • actively participate in one or more of the YUFE working groups to put YUFE’s plans and vision into practice.

The ideal candidate has at least one year left in their bachelor’s studies or PhD research prior to graduation. They communicate well in English and are either experienced in, or keen to work with, international teams. Strong communication and organisational skills, along with interest or experience in themes of Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity, are valued. The candidate must be able to commit approximately 10 hours per month to the role and be willing to undertake occasional travel within Europe. An open, inclusive mindset and the confidence to speak up and take initiative are essential. Above all, the candidate should show motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to shaping a truly European Higher Education.

Benefits of the YUFE Student Forum to you

This is a voluntary non-paid opportunity. However, all expenses due to YUFE (e.g., travel costs) will be covered by your university. There are also other benefits to consider, since you will…

  • get to co-operate and network with other students and staff members across Europe
  • strengthen your language skills and intercultural skills
  • gain deeper understanding of Europe as an operational environment
  • take part in creating something new and making regional educational history
  • get a specific certificate of your activities (= a good addition to your CV)
  • be eligible for ECTs (Participation in international administration and working groups, 1-10 ECTS)
  • be eligible to apply for YUFE student forum travel grants to participate in YUFE meetings.

Once you are selected, onboarding will be provided both by UEF and YUFE.

Are you ready to take part in making history and changing the educational landscape of Europe?
